How to predict a serial arsonist – a case study with relationship analysis using graph-based data

Level: Basic

Sweden's worst serial arsonist is suspected of burning down more than 200 buildings over the last 20 years but has only been convicted for two. How could that be possible? Analysis and profiling as tools in investigation is not a new invention. Several countries apply these on a routine basis.
• You will learn of a new approach to understanding the datasets available and the method used.

Investigators have been restricted to play by the tunes of the arsonist; with our work, we will now be able to act proactively by establishing close coordination among all responsible parties involved in the investigation. The ability to predict a serial arsonist is a vital tool in the arsenal of both Police and Fire Service arson investigators. Questions of the ability to accurately make predictions remain.

• You will learn how experienced arson investigators combine their skills with the similar tool that is used by Facebook and LinkedIn to analyze their users.
• You will learn how you prepare a Relationship analysis of serial arsonists, using graph-based data.
• And most important of all, you will learn how to get the best of two nerds - one on programming and the other on fire!
