Creating great products we day by day collect and process huge amount of information. Have you ever felt lost in details without seeing a big picture?
Adding more functionality we can miss hidden dependencies, connections and associations between work items. Words are often inaccurate and are freely interpreted by team members, which means that the meetings are longer and it is more difficult to find the definition of the problem and proper solutions.
We don’t have to let the growing data-flow and work complexity overwhelm us. We can be spend less times in meetings and create fewer reports, we can see and act faster.
Visual Management is what we can call a set of knowledge, skills and visual techniques to work with information visually. During the workshop we will grab the real data that is tasks and bugs pull from an open source project, and train on visualising it in all phases of the work under a product.
So we will work a lot, and in the end you will:
- Get outside of the basics of Visual Management and Visual Thinking concepts
- Take-away with the ready-made templates that you could use later for
brainstorming ideas when designing your product
explaining concepts to your colleagues
organising information on kanban boards
creating work plans for your team
prioritising work items in a product backlog
visualising dependencies between work items
- Understand how people think visually to know when and how you should use a specific visual approach
- Try concrete techniques to work with relations, timelines, mind maps and boards.
